This means you can feel confident your treatment is tailored to your features, with a clear emphasis on safety, harmony and a refreshed, relaxed appearance.

What Are Botox® Anti-Wrinkle Treatments?

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, manufactured for use in Cosmetic Medicine.  Also called a neuromodulator, it temporarily paralyses the muscles it is injected into.

A very fine needle is used to place small, measured amounts of Botulinum toxin into carefully selected muscles. This allows targeted relaxation of the muscles that create expression lines, softening wrinkles while still preserving natural movement.  The number and placement of injections are always tailored to your facial anatomy, how your muscles move, and the changes you’re hoping to see.

When used thoughtfully, Botulinum toxin is a versatile treatment that can refresh the appearance without looking obvious or overdone.  At ALLOR, every treatment is planned with care, focusing on balance and subtle refinement rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

What Areas Can Botox® Treat?

Frown Lines

Softens the "11" lines between the eyebrows for a more relaxed appearance.  Less frowning also means a happier facial expression, which makes you and those around you happier as well (win-win!).

Forehead Lines

Smooths horizontal lines to create a fresher, more youthful look.

Crow’s Feet

Reduces fine lines around the outer corners of the eyes.

Dynamic vs Static Wrinkles

Diagram showing Dynamic lines vs static lines

Botulinum toxin is most effective for dynamic lines - wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movement, such as frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet.

Static lines, which are visible even when the face is at rest, as well as changes related to skin laxity, volume loss, or sun damage, may not fully respond to Botulinum toxin alone.  During your consultation, we’ll talk honestly about which lines can be softened and when other treatments may be more appropriate.

Baby Botox® vs Standard Botox®

Standard Botox® and Baby Botox® are both based on the same approach using carefully placed injections to relax certain facial muscles.  The real difference is in the technique and the effect you’re after.

With Standard Botox®, the aim is to smooth out deeper or more noticeable lines by relaxing the muscles more fully.

Baby Botox® is a refined technique that uses very small amounts of botulinum toxin to soften movement rather than fully relaxing the muscle.  It’s often chosen when a lighter, more conservative approach is preferred, resulting in a softer, more understated look while maintaining natural facial movement.

It isn’t about one being better than the other.  The right choice depends on your features, how your face moves, and whether you want a strong correction or something more subtle and understated.

You can read more about Baby Botox® and how it differs from standard Botox® in our guide, “Baby Botox®: The Subtle Way to Refresh Your Look”.

Step-By-Step: Your Botox® Anti-Wrinkle Treatment
at ALLOR Cosmetic Medicine

Before Your Treatment: How to Prepare

The following are general preparation guidelines commonly recommended before Botox® anti-wrinkle treatment. Your individual situation may vary, and you should always follow personalised advice provided during your initial consultation.

1. Please avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin, ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatories) for 24 hours before treatment to minimise bruising and swelling.  If you take prescribed medications, these will be discussed during your initial consultation.  Do not stop any prescribed medications unless advised by your prescribing doctor.

2. Arrive at your appointment with clean skin, your skin will also be cleansed before treatment.  Arriving make-up free helps ensure a clean canvas and minimises the risk of infection.

3. Avoid facials, chemical peels, laser treatments, hair removal and microdermabrasion for at least one week beforehand and one week after.  Active skincare ingredients such as retinoids (vitamin A/retinol), AHAs, and exfoliants are typically paused for at least three to five days beforehand, as these can increase skin sensitivity.

4. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment to support healthy, hydrated skin.

5. If you have any active skin infections, cold sores, allergies or other concerns, please let us know before your appointment so these can be discussed and managed appropriately.

6. Schedule your treatment at least two weeks before any important events to allow time for settling and optimal results.

During Your Botox® Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

1. Botulinum toxin anti-wrinkle injections are relatively quick, typically taking less than 30 minutes.

2. Treatment involves a series of precise injections into targeted facial muscles. These injections relax muscle activity, which helps reduce skin creasing and soften the appearance of wrinkles.

PLEASE NOTE - Botulinum toxin treats dynamic lines, meaning lines that appear with muscle movement.  It does not directly treat static lines, which are present at rest and develop over time due to ageing and thinning of the skin. With repeated treatments and evidence-based skincare, static lines do typically soften over time.

For a deeper explanation, see our guide to what wrinkles Botox® can really treat.

3. Some people experience mild discomfort or a brief pinching sensation at injection sites.  Treatment is generally well tolerated.  If needed, options such as topical numbing or distraction techniques can be discussed.

4. We primarily use Xeomin® for its precision and purity.  Other approved botulinum toxin brands, including Dysport® and Botox®, may be used when clinically appropriate and discussed during consultation.

Immediately After Treatment: What You’ll Notice

1. Most people return to work or normal daily activities straight after treatment.  It is recommended that you avoid high-intensity exercise, spa pools, saunas, lying on or rubbing your face for 48 hours after treatment to help ensure the product remains in the intended areas.

2. You may notice mild redness or swelling at the injection sites, which typically settles over the remainder of the day.  A clean tinted SPF is applied after treatment to protect the skin from sun exposure and gently even the appearance of treated areas, allowing you to continue your day comfortably.

3. To support the best outcome, clear aftercare instructions and a contact phone number are provided.  Tailored skincare recommendations may also be discussed if appropriate.  A complimentary follow-up is scheduled approximately two weeks after treatment to review progress, answer any questions, and ensure you are happy with your results.

When Botox® Results Start to Show

1. Many patients see results from treatment in as little as one to three days.  From there, they continue to develop, with peak results emerging at two weeks.

2. At your two-week follow-up, we assess how the treatment has settled.  Occasionally, a small adjustment may be discussed to fine-tune results.  If additional product is required, this is discussed openly, and any additional cost is explained before proceeding.

3. While typical results last around 3–4 months, many people find repeat treatments aren’t needed immediately.  As treated muscles gradually regain activity, results can often last closer to 4–6 months.  Allowing full muscle recovery before repeat treatment can help maintain a natural appearance over time and may reduce the risk of over-treatment.
